Telecommunicating
This is Tic Tok Men music from 2003 and will be on the upcoming release “Return of the 100 Foot Robots”. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“Care”
If I recall, this was the first MDS track. The first few takes of the vocals Dave was having a bit of trouble with the timing or words. Figuring he was bopping and grooving to the music too much, at the start of the last take he said “less dancing, more singing”. We [...] -
“Transit”
The song of the impossible bassline. Seven Graylands: Drums, keyboards/samples David Wilkie: Vocals Paget Campbell: Guitar [Audio clip: view full post to listen] Transit Copyright Seven Graylands 1992 I’m moving forward and I’m moving fast Nevermind the camera with the landscape all a blur I don’t know where I’m going but I’m making real good time All of these eastern trains go a million miles [...] -
“Maybe I”
I suppose you could call this a standard Seven Graylands anti-love song. This song has my favourite Paget guitar lead. When he was dropping the track he kicked into distortion mode for the lead. I liked what he was playing but it got muddied with distortion. I asked him to give it a [...] -
“Lullaby”
My friend was dating someone, who, one could call a stalker in training. When she broke up with him it started getting really weird. He’d stand under the window of her apartment shouting her name. He’d call non-stop. He’d drop by her work. All kinds of strange things. The more he did, the [...] -
“I Am Energy”
To say it with magnetics. -
“VR”
I can program this universe, unless the power fails. -
“Techno Love”
Your love is like a disk drive. Pneumatic Jarvik #5. -
“Remote Control”
My remote control still does my thinking for me. -
“Software Hardware Somewhere Nowhere”
Restored Tic Tok Men from the 80s. -
“The House of Mirrors”
They see you in black and white and add the colour in by computer. -
“Experiment IV”
This was the first track in the new studio. Cormac Strain suggested I do a cover of Kate Bush’s Experiment IV. I’ve actually thought of doing a cover of this song in the past.. so I did it. The vocals were interesting to do. There are 5-6 tracks of vocals. I printed out the lyrics and [...] -
Souls in Darkness – The Album
The video above will better explain what I’m up to on this album. The working title of the album is “Souls in Darkness” after the original project. The plan is, once all the song are competed, sales will be donated to The Phoenix House in the United States. -
“Theme From Dark Ages Part 1″
Way back when there was a movie concept. A lovely post apocalyptic, dystopian, bio-mechanical, movie concept. This is the main theme for the soundtrack. The original, called Theme to Dark Ages was much simpler and more moog-ish. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“Fade”
Another remake from a 1985 track. I decided to keep most of the original structure and musical phrases. I added a rhythm guitar and a few extra sounds here and there. Other than that, it’s the same with new instruments. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“New Gods, New Ideas”
Another Souls In Darkness remake called New Gods, New Ideas. It is very mellow and, if I did it right, this song and a cigarette should last the same amount of time. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“You Fear You”
Another for the Souls in Darkness CD. This is called You Fear You and it is a full out dark dirge. This is remake from something done years ago. The original contained noises and shouts Todd and I made at Gasworks Park. I found the original recordings of these sounds and was able to clean them [...] -
“Machines”
Spoken Word piece about the value of machines in our life. From Titled:Untitled. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“I can see the future”
Spoken Word piece from Titled:Untitled. [Audio clip: view full post to listen] -
“Storm”
This was always one of my favourites of the old SIDS songs. It seemed fitting to have it be one of the first to be reworked. [Audio clip: view full post to listen]
