Red Sound Darkstar Synthesizer Module

A gritty little synth. I guess there is a vocorder add on for this (which I don’t have, but want). This doesn’t get much use at the moment because I don’t have space in the studio for desktop synths.

This synth gets bonus points for not only sounding cool, but LOOKING cool. Not nearly enough blinky lights though.

Tech Notes:
RE-LOAD ALL 64 FACTORY PRESETS: Ensure power is switched OFF. Press and hold down the [PROGRAM] button and then turn power on. The main display will show ‘SURE’ to prompt confirmation of the load. Press the MENU [EDIT] button marked ‘VALUE +’’ to confirm the operation (‘LOAD’ appears briefly in display).

Sony DPS-R7 Digital Delay/Reverb

This is a very nice reverb unit. Lots of variations, clean sound and when you power it up you’re greeted by a smiley dude on the LCD screen. What’s not to love?

The LCD seems to be sensitive to heat. When the unit warms up in the rack it starts to black out a bit. Run a fan on it and it goes back to normal. Weird.

Sadly, I think my R7 is on its way out. I’ve lost a couple input LEDs and sometimes it seems to be making a bit of a buzz. This has been my main go-to reverb and I hate to see it die.

Inputs: 2x FXLR, 2x 1/4″ Jack
Outputs: 2x MXLR, 2x 1/4″ Jack

Roland SDX330 Dimensional Expander

Nice machine this. Mine came second-hand out of a nice old Chinese man’s karaoke rig (shame).

I’ve heard good things about this device and was simply amazed at how nice it sounded.

Lexicon MPX-100 Reverb and Effects

Overall this was a pretty good sounding delay unit. Clean and quiet. It wasn’t very “musical” though. The main reason for me dumping this unit was the tap tempo button (which should be outlawed).

Titano Standard Accordion

Yup. I’ve got an accordion. I guess it is an ok one as accordions go. It sounds good and plays well,. not that I really know how the thing works. Due to a back injury I haven’t had much time to play with the thing since I got it. It’s a heavy bastard.

specs…
Ummm? It has a keyboard like a piano on one side and 120 little black buttons on the other.

Hohner G2 Tremolo

A super-groovy, bright red, G2. I used to have one of these in black and for some reason I sold it. I’m not very good on these stringed things, but I rather like playing these little guitars….

So I rebought one

When I hook this thing into my current MIDI loop it crashes. I think the old boy feels insecure.

Korg DDD-5 Drum Machine

This machine was used on the album Remote Control (Most main drum sounds)

All my drum machines kind of sit off to the side these days as samplers and sample sets are much easier to use. This was a pretty cool drum machine for it’s day.

Sample rate: 12-bit PCM, 8-polyphonic.
Pitch, Decay, Pan, and Velocity sensitivity can be edited to alter the sound of the 29 stock drum sounds.
7 velocity-sensitive pads.
