Alesis 3630 Compressor

I had three of these. I mostly used them to control the noise generated by old synths. I know these are not well loved in the audio community, but I’ve never had a problem. I also use them very lightly in the signal path – so perhaps that’s why I don’t mind them.

I sold two of these. The third I took to my house and wired it between the DVD player and the television in my bedroom. Now, when I watch movies in bed at night the dialogue and explosions are about the same volume level.

specs? Don’t talk to me about specs…

Behringer 2100 Compressor

Just like the MDX-1400, this one sat unused. One thing I will say about them, they make nice looking rack spacers.

Lexicon MX-200 Reverb and Effects

This unit sounded good but I never really synced with it. I prefer my delays to be straight delay units. I don’t need a bunch of presets and crazy stuff.

MOTU 828 mkii

The 828 MkII features eight analogue inputs on balanced jacks, 10 analogue outputs on balanced jacks and two combi jack/XLR mic/line/instrument connectors (with individually switchable phantom power), which are on the front panel for easy access. Insert send jacks for these two channels are fitted to the rear panel, and any free outs or ins can be used as aux sends and returns. Gold-plated connector contacts are used throughout and the converters are 24-bit, 64x oversampling with 96kHz capability. The analogue input jacks can be individually switched to either +4dBu or -10dBv sensitivity and up to 6dB of additional digital gain is available if needed.

This was a pretty good interface and it gave me years of service...

Roland D-10 Synthesizer

The Roland D-10 is pretty much the little dorky brother of the Roland D-50. Roland tried to cram a lessor D-50 into the D-10 but also include some added, useless features.

I found mine for a steal at a 2nd hand shop who didn’t realize replacing the connected power cord would be an easy affair.

It had been sitting on my tech bench for years to use for the MIDI connectors. I decided to sell it in the Great Equipment Purge of 2013.

Overall, if you can find one for under $100, I say buy it.

Yummy specs…
Polyphony – 32 voices
Oscillators – Digital LA (Linear Arithmetic) & ROM Samples
Effects – 8 Effects
Multitimbral – 9 parts
Drums – 1 kit, 63 sounds
Memory – 128 internal & 128 external patches, 64 performances
Keyboard – 61 note with velocity sensitivity

Behringer Eurorack MX 2642A

I think I lucked out because this mixer is pretty good for a sub $350 mixer. I bought this for a quick project, used it, then it sat in a box for a few years – then I sold it.
